FLAGLER COUNTY, Fla. — Two convicted felons armed with a loaded handgun and a truck full of tools led Flagler County deputies on what Sheriff Rick Staly described as one of the most bizarre chases he’d ever seen.

According to the sheriff’s office, just before 10 a.m. Monday, a deputy spotted a white Ford F-250 pickup truck on State Road 100 that had been reported stolen out of Jacksonville.

When deputies attempted to pull the truck over, the driver, later identified as 44-year-old Shane Hendricks, refused to stop.

According to Hendricks’ arrest report, he continued to flee onto State Road 11, even after three of the truck’s four tires were punctured by stop sticks.

In dashcam video released by the sheriff’s office Tuesday, Hendricks can then be seen throwing tools from inside the truck back at the pursuing deputies.

According to the arrest report, Hendricks then climbed into the truck’s bed from the driver’s seat while a passenger, identified as 44-year-old Tammy Pecor, took over driving.

Deputies say Hendricks continued throwing heavy, metal objects at patrol cars from the bed of the truck, including a large toolbox, a stamping machine, and a sledgehammer, while Pecor continued to drive.

Eventually, Pecor simply stopped the truck on the side of State Road 11, according to the sheriff’s office, and both were taken into custody.

Inside the truck, deputies found a loaded semi-automatic handgun and traces of a powdery substance that tested positive for cocaine.

“This was a wild and one of the most bizarre chases I have seen in my career,” Sheriff Rick Staly said. “Thankfully none of our deputies or anyone else was hurt by their actions. If you assault a deputy sheriff and flee, we will get you and you will still go to jail, but with a lot more charges.”

Hendricks and Pecor both face a long list of charges that include fleeing and eluding law enforcement, and multiple counts each of throwing a deadly missile at vehicles and aggravated assault on law enforcement.

Hendricks is being held on no bond, Pecor on $76,000 bond.

According to Sheriff Staley, both suspects have lengthy criminal histories.

Hendricks has a prior arrest and conviction on his record from a 2020 grand theft case.

Deputies say a check of Pecor’s history revealed her to be a habitual traffic offender who also has prior arrests for battery and grand theft among other charges.
