The motorcyclist, identified as 40-year-old Andrew Derr, was not injured in the crash, according to police.

Police say Derr and other witnesses followed Morales to the intersection of U.S. 17-92 and Wisconsin Avenue where they told Morales to stop and that law enforcement had been called.

“Is the motorcycle down on the ground,” a dispatcher can be heard asking in 911 calls released by the Orange City Police Department Monday. “Is he breathing and conscious?”

“He’s fine...the lady just took off and left,” the caller responds.

At one point, Morales made her own call to police in which she claimed the men were being aggressive and threatening her.

Police say Morales continued to her home at 1052 East Wisconsin Avenue, went inside and came out with a gun to confront Derr and the other witnesses, who had continued to follow.

“You’re three men. You followed me. Leave me alone,” Morales shouts as multiple gunshots are heard.

Police say Morales pointed her gun at Derr and the witnesses, at which point Derr drew his own handgun and shot her multiple times.

In the 911 calls, Morales’ mother can be heard on the line telling dispatchers her daughter was expecting a child.

“My daughter’s been shot...she’s pregnant,” Morales’ mother says.

Morales was taken to Halifax Hospital where she died.

She worked at the county’s Pierson and DeLand libraries since January 2019. A county spokesperson described Morales as upbeat and hard-working.

Police say a handgun belonging to Morales was recovered from the scene.

No arrests have been made. Police say Derr, who holds a valid Florida concealed weapons permit, has cooperated fully with their investigation, which is ongoing.
