ORLANDO, Fla. — Walgreens and CVS both announced that they will offer additional doses of the COVID-19 vaccine for moderate to severely immunocompromised people.
The move coincides with the CDC recommendation that people that previously completed the series of vaccines from Pfizer-BioNTech or Moderna get an additional dose of the COVID-19 vaccine.
Johnson & Johnson patients are not eligible for an additional dose at this time.

The CDC says that people wanting to get a booster shot need to get the same vaccine as previous doses, be ages 12 and older for Pfizer-BioNTech and 18 or older for the Moderna shot.

To be eligible for a booster shot, people must meet one of the following conditions:
- Been receiving active cancer treatment for tumors or cancers of the blood.
- Received an organ transplant and are taking medicine to suppress the immune system.
- Received a stem cell transplant within the last two years or are taking medicine to suppress the immune system.
- Moderate or severe primary immunodeficiency (such as DiGeorge syndrome, Wiskott-Aldrich syndrome).
- Advanced or untreated HIV infection.
- Active treatment with high-dose corticosteroids or other drugs that may suppress your immune response.

Both CVS and Walgreens recommend eligible patients make appointments to get their third shot.
