Woman bitten twice by shark while boogie boarding at New Smyrna Beach, beach officials say

NEW SMYRNA BEACH, Fla. — A woman as bitten by a shark Thursday while boogie boarding at New Smyrna Beach, officials said.

Just before 11 a.m., officials said a 50-year-old Miami woman was boogie boarding in the 1100 block of North New Smyrna Beach.

Volusia County Beach Safety Ocean Rescue said when she hopped off the boogie board a shark bit her left leg. Then she kicked at the shark and was bitten on her ankle.

Officials said the shark was not seen.

Both shark bites were non-life-threatening and the woman was not taken to a hospital.
