‘We believe there may be other victims’: Guitar teacher accused of molesting 14-year-old student

DAYTONA BEACH SHORES, Fla. — A guitar teacher in Volusia County has been arrested on charges he molested one of his students.

Daytona Beach Shores police said David Benjamin, 68, was arrested on charges of lewd and lascivious molestation of a child, and false imprisonment.

Police said Benjamin is accused of molesting a 14-year-old girl who was taking guitar lessons from him at his residence at the Hawaiian Inn.

Officers said Benjamin owns other residences in the area, including apartments at Castaways Beach Resort.

Police believe there may be other victims.

“This young lady was extremely brave and should be proud of herself for having the courage to come forward,” said Captain Michael Fowler. “The victim cooperated with the investigation and her bravery largely contributed to this arrest.”

Benjamin is in custody at Volusia County Branch Jail and has a $30,000 bond.

Police said anyone who believes their child was in contact with Benjamin and may be a victim should call law enforcement to report.
