Man tries to lure girl, 10, who was getting off of school bus, deputies say

VOLUSIA COUNTY, Fla. — The Volusia County Sheriff’s Office is warning parents after they arrested a man who was allegedly trying to lure a child into his car.

Daniel Turner is charged with stalking a minor and attempting to lure a child, records show.

Deputies said witnesses saw Turner pull his car up next to a 10-year-old girl after she got off her school bus at around 5:30 p.m. Friday and asked her to get in.

The girl did the right thing by declining and walking away.

Two other drivers intervened and called 911.

The sheriff’s office said this is a good reminder for parents to talk to their kids about how to handle encounters with strangers.
