VOLUSIA COUNTY, Fla. — An Altamonte Springs man became the second shark bite victim of the year in New Smyrna Beach on Sunday.
Volusia County Beach Safety officials said just after 3 p.m. the 20-year-old man was surfing in about 7 feet of water when he was bit by what was presumed to be a shark.

Officials said the shark was not seen.
The man’s injuries were non-life-threatening and he was not sent to the hospital by ambulance.

Earlier in the week, officials said a 21-year-old New Jersey man was fishing at around 3:30 p.m. in waist-deep water at New Smyrna Beach when he was bit by a 5-or 6-foot black tip shark, making him the first shark bite victim of the year.
