Skeletal remains found near park in Deltona, deputies say

VOLUSIA COUNTY, Fla. — Deputies in Volusia County are investigating after skeletal remains were found near a park in Deltona.

Deputies said the remains were discovered at around 6 p.m. on Tuesday by two park visitors near Veterans Memorial Park on Evard Avenue.

The visitors went down a path into the woods and discovered the remains, which were surrounded by blankets, bags and other items, officials said.

Deputies said the location the remains were found in is consistent with the campsite of a transient person.

Officials said there were no immediate indications of foul play, and the investigation is ongoing.

The remains have not been identified, investigators said.
