VOLUSIA COUNTY, Fla. — Volusia County sheriff deputies are investigating a shooting that happened Friday night. Deputies said the shooting occurred just before 11:00 p.m. on the 1900 block of Forest Avenue in Daytona Beach.

According to deputies, the mother and father said they heard their daughter screaming outside their home and went outside to help her. When they got outside, they saw the daughter’s boyfriend, 26-year-old Vincent Moore, attacking her.

The daughter was bleeding from her mouth and face, deputies said.

After unsuccessfully attempting to break up the fight, the father told deputies he fired one warning shot into the ground while the mother tried to get Moore to leave. According to deputies, that is when Moore started attacking the mother instead, and the father shot Moore one time.

Moore was transported to Halifax Health Medical Center, where he was listed in critical condition.

Deputies said Moore’s girlfriend had several visible injuries to her face and mouth, consistent with having been battered by Moore.
