Man found dead in car at Daytona Beach apartment complex killed himself, police say

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. — The Daytona Beach Police Department said Thursday that a man who was found fatally shot in a car Wednesday morning at an apartment complex killed himself.

Police said they were called at about 8:30 a.m. to the Wedgewood apartments at Mason Avenue and Bill France Boulevard after the man’s body was discovered in the driver’s seat of a Kia that was still running.

Investigators said the man was in his mid-20s, but they did not publicly identify him.

They said he died at the scene after being shot in the head.

Police said they discovered a scale and a gun in the car.
