VOLUSIA COUNTY, Fla. — Hundreds of COVID-19 vaccine doses arrived in an underserved community in Volusia County on Wednesday.
Daytona Beach’s Midtown Culture Center is the county’s newest vaccination site.
About 300 doses of the single-shot Johnson & Johnson vaccine are set to be given on Wednesday.

Getting the vaccine out to people in underserved communities like Midtown has not been easy.
Data from the state shows more than 142,000 people have received at least one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine in Volusia County.
Of those people, 5,757 are Black. That’s about 4%, even though Black people make up about 11.5% of the county’s population.

The event will be back at the Midtown Cultural Center next Wednesday with another 300 shots.
People can contact the NAACP or the Black Clergy Alliance to register for the event.
