DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. — Santa and his elves made an early appearance in Volusia County this week.
Members of the county’s fire department dressed up and rappelled from Halifax Health in Daytona Beach.

While it is a training exercise for the firefighters, it’s also an opportunity to bring joy to patients and staff so close to Christmas.
“It’s absolutely fantastic, makes it all worthwhile,” one firefighter said.

Even the Grinch got to join in the fun.
The deputy chief said there were almost 20 people who rappelled from the building, and each year more and more firefighters sign up.
