DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. — Daytona Beach firefighters rescued an elderly woman Tuesday after a large tree crashed into her home, trapping her inside.

Firefighters were called to a home after a tree collapsed and trapped an 89-year-old woman.

First responders worked to rescue the woman from the home and were able to get her out.

Officials said she was protected by a void space that was created after the tree crashed down.
Firefighters said the woman was transported by Volusia County paramedics for further observation.

Family members said the woman has lived in the home, which suffered major damage, since the 1940s.
The family said once the woman is released from the hospital she will stay with family or friends.
