DELTONA, Fla. — The Volusia County Sheriff’s Office is searching for a suspect in a shooting in Deltona that left one person dead and another with non-life-threatening injuries.
Deputies said they were called to Halifax Health around 12:05 a.m. on Sunday after hospital staff reported that a gunshot victim was brought in privately.
According to deputies, a second victim was also brought to another hospital by private transport.

The person brought to Halifax died from his injuries, deputies said.
Deputies identified the victim in this shooting as 16-year-old Xyrus Zelaya.
The other surviving victim, a 17-year-old male, is not being identified at this time.

The investigation led detectives to the 1400 block of Waterview Drive in Deltona, where they believe the shooting occurred during a house party.
Both victims are students at Deltona High School, deputies said.
Grief counselors were on hand at Deltona High School today to help students cope with the news.

Deputies said they have not yet determined a motive for this shooting.
Channel 9 went by the house where the shooting alleged happened and no one answered the door.
Neighbors told Channel 9 that they’ve complained about loud music, parties, trash and people parking on the lawn at that house before.
Neighbors also said that a male and female in their late teens or early 20s live at the home.
“You hear voices right outside your door at six in the morning - it’s kind of weird,” said neighbor Michael Castaldi. “There were six people sitting down looking like they were restrained with zip ties or something. They had hoodies on and blankets wrapped around them because it was cool.”
