Deltona man accused of sexually abusing child, deputies say

DELTONA, Fla. — Volusia County deputies said they are looking for other potential victims after a Deltona man was charged with sexual battery of a child.

Deputies said Brandon Wheeler, 29, was arrested Thursday on suspicion of sexual battery and lewd or lascivious battery of a child.

According to a report, the victim is a boy under the age of 12 and Wheeler had regular contact with the child.

Detectives said they have investigated similar allegations involving Wheeler in the past, but due to a lack of information and evidence, criminal charges were not filed.

Deputies said additional charges are possible pending further investigation and digital forensics of items seized during execution of a search warrant.
