Daytona prepares for thousands of race fans ahead of Coke Zero-Sugar 400

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. — Thousands of race fans will pack Daytona International Speedway starting Friday.

The speedway will host the Wawa 250 race Friday night, and Saturday night’s Coke Zero-Sugar 400.

The speedway grandstand can hold more than 100,000 fans.

Track officials haven’t said how many tickets they’ve sold so far.

They said the suites at the speedway are sold out, and in-field camping sales are up from last year.

Local businesses hope this turns into a big weekend for them too.

“We got a lot of locals that come in and I know there are some locals that do come to the track, but there’s a lot of people,” said Patrick Lee at the Crab Stop.

Some hotel owners in the area told Channel 9 they are seeing more bookings this year compared to last year, and guests are also booking longer stays.
