DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. — City leaders in Daytona Beach are working on ways to better control crowds after images from events, like the Daytona Truck Meet, flooded social media.
Residents said pop-up events this year have sparked fights and packed the roads.

Videos posted to social media show trucks doing burnouts in parking lots and rowdiness in the streets.
Thousands have flooded State Road A1A during the “Orlando Invades Daytona” event, which saw fights and shootings.
Johnny Sanchez runs John’s Rock ‘n’ Ride on Main Street, and had a front-row view to much of the wild behavior.

“This latest one was a really bad one,” Sanchez said.
He said the behavior turns tourists away.
“They say it doesn’t feel safe,” he said.
City leaders and police chiefs from the east side of the county met to come up with a plan.
Daytona Beach city manager Deric Feacher said they discussed doubling fines, stricter laws and bringing in more police.
He says they want to utilize every tool available to them.
Feacher said any legislative change will take some time to happen.
