DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. — When Daytona Beach police officer Jason Raynor was shot in the line of duty last week, his extended law enforcement family started working on a way to show their support.
Lt. Dawn Landry with Abundant Security and Protection Services worked several events with Raynor and said he has a heart of gold.
“He’s going to need everyone, every ounce of our strength to get him and his family through this,” she said. “And I know he can, because he’s a strong kid.”
She’s collecting challenge coins from departments around the country for him and plans to display the coins on a board to present to his family.
“We hope that it shows him and his family that he’s not alone,” Landry said.
Departments that would like to send in a coin for Raynor can reach out to Channel 9 reporter Lauren Seabrook by email or on social media to be connected with Landry or the Volusia County Sheriff’s Office.
