DELTONA, Fla. — People across Central Florida gathered to show support for Ukraine on Friday night.

Several local churches took part in a prayer vigil at Deltona City Hall.

Deltona’s Vice Mayor Maritza Avila-Vazquez organized this event.
People of all faiths were invited to attend.

The prayer vigil included representatives from New Hope Baptist Church, Our Lady of the Lakes Catholic Church, Movement Church and Landmark Lodge, among others.
The vigil was organized in the wake of the Russian military invasion of Ukraine, which has created a humanitarian crisis resulting in the greatest number of refugees fleeing a European country since World War II.
