3 people dead, home evacuated after plane crashes on way to Daytona Beach

HALL COUNTY, Ga. — Hall County investigators say three people are dead and a home was evacuated after a plane crash Friday night, according to WSB-TV.

It happened shortly after 6 p.m. along Memorial Park Drive and Atlanta Highway near Gainesville.

Gainesville firefighters were first to the scene and found three people dead in a single-engine plane.

Investigators said the plane crashed into a ravine in the area.

The U.S. Federal Aviation Administration said the flight took off from an airport in Gainesville and was en route to Daytona Beach, Florida.

A nearby home also was evacuated because of fuel that fell in the area. The American Red Cross currently is helping four adults and a child with temporary housing.
