2 dead, 2 seriously injured after car hits 3 motorcycles in Volusia County, troopers say

VOLUSIA COUNTY, Fla. — The Florida Highway Patrol is investigating a deadly crash in Volusia County involving a car and three motorcycles.

The crash happened at 10:35 p.m. on Saturday near the intersection of State Road 44 and Eau Claire Avenue.

According to troopers, a Toyota Corolla was heading eastbound on SR-44 and the three motorcycles were traveling westbound on SR-44.

For an unknown reason, the Corolla traveled into the westbound lane and collided with the motorcycles.

One motorcycle driver and his female passenger were pronounced dead on the scene.

Another motorcycle driver was transported to the hospital with serious injuries and the third motorcycle driver suffered minor injuries.

The driver of the Corolla was transported to the hospital in serious condition.

This crash remains under investigation.
