Volusia County man ‘passes go’ and becomes millionaire in Florida Lottery Monopoly scratch-off game

VOLUSIA COUNTY, Fla. — A Volusia County man is a millionaire after winning a $1 million prize from the $20 MONOPOLY DOUBLER scratch-off game from the Florida Lottery.

Lazaro Aviles claimed the $1 million prize after purchasing his winning ticket from The Rite Track, located at 899 South Spring Garden Avenue in Deland.

The 56-year-old Deland man chose to receive his winning as one-time, lump-sum payment of $798,985.

The store that sold the winning ticket will receive a $2,000 bonus commission.

The $20 MONOPOLY DOUBLER, launched on July 4, 2022 and features more than $493 million in cash prizes, including eight top prizes of $5 million.

Scratch-off games made up 77% of ticket sales in the 2021-2022 fiscal year.

Since its inception, scratch-off games have generated more than $17.69 billion for the Educational Enhancement Trust Fund.
