Volusia County deputy arrested on child abuse, battery charges

A Volusia County deputy was arrested Saturday in an alleged domestic violence incident.
Sgt. Robert Rahn, 50, was charged with one count of domestic battery by strangulation and one count of child abuse without great harm.
Deputies said they responded to Rahn’s DeLand home about 6 p.m. where Rahn’s son told them he got into a fight with his father, who pushed him onto a couch, punched him in the face and put him in a headlock.
The son said his father put his hand over his mouth and nose, and that he lost consciousness.
Rahn was taken to the Volusia County Jail.
He’s been placed on paid leave.
