SANFORD, Fla. — Several homes are being built with the help of volunteers right now in Seminole County.

It’s a labor of love and leadership that benefits more than the new homeowners.
The project is a partnership of two non-profits: Habitat for Humanity Seminole Apopka and Public Allies Central Florida.

“We all have natural strengths, natural abilities when we use those to serve the people who need them naturally have no impact in our lives,” said Prita Chabra with Public Allies Central Florida.
Pubic Allies’ goal is to create a more equitable society for all by cultivating leaders who represent what America really looks like.

More than leadership qualities, each home Habitat for Humanity builds chips away at Central Florida’s affordable housing crisis.
Rental rates and house prices are skyrocketing while salaries remain the same.

Some who receive homes from the groups said without these nonprofits, homeownership wouldn’t be possible.
If all goes as planned the homes will be move-in ready in the next couple of weeks.
