Comfort Cases, an international non-profit dedicated to providing hope and dignity to youth in foster care, teamed up with Simply Healthcare Plans to host a “Packing Party” to provide comfort and personal care items for youth entering the Florida foster care system.

Last week, more than 50 volunteers came together at the Boys and Girls Club just off North Parramore Avenue in Orlando to fill those backpacks

Each backpack was filled with pajamas, blankets, hygiene kids and books.

One of the event organizers said he and his children were once in the foster care system and could only carry their belongings in trash bags.

“We as a country have to understand the investment we make in children is an investment we make in ourselves and I just wanted to make sure that trash bags were eliminated,” said Comfort Cases founder Rob Scheer.

The backpacks will be donated to three Florida foster organizations: Embrace Families, Children’s Home Society of Florida and Foundation for Foster Children.
