ORLANDO, Fla. — UnitedHealthcare members in Central Florida could lose in-network access to AdventHealth hospitals and providers next year after the insurer ended its contract with the health system.
Unless the two sides reach a new deal, AdventHealth facilities, doctors and nurses will be out of network for UnitedHealthcare patients starting Jan. 1, 2027. The current agreement remains in effect through Dec. 31, 2026.
AdventHealth said it is negotiating with UnitedHealthcare on a new contract and is working to prevent interruptions in care. The health system said it wants an agreement that helps cover rising operating costs while maintaining access to its network.
Patients’ coverage is unchanged for now, according to an AdventHealth notice. But if negotiations fail, UnitedHealthcare members may pay more out of pocket for care at AdventHealth locations.
The health system advised patients to call the number on the back of their insurance card for coverage questions and review available options during the 2027 annual enrollment period, which runs Oct. 15 through Dec. 7.
