ULA says new Vulcan Centaur rocket will launch from Space Coast before end of the year

BREVARD COUNTY, Fla. — United Launch Alliance shared new details Thursday about its latest development in rocketry.

ULA’s CEO hosted a round table talk at 11 a.m. on the status of its new Vulcan Centaur rocket. Officials said the rocket will take flight from the Space Coast before the end of the year.

“So big picture, Vulcan development is essentially done. All the components of the rocket, including the booster have been fully qualified,” ULA President and CEO Tory Bruno said.

The Vulcan Centaur will be carrying payloads on its first flight, which is also considered its first certification mission.

The update comes after the FAA approved a license to launch the new rocket.

Once its ready, the Vulcan Centaur rocket will replace ULA’s Atlas V and Delta IV launch vehicles.
