UCF, Amazon announce partnership to offer free tuition program for employees

University of Central Florida students return to in-person classes for first time in nearly a year (UCF)

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. — University of Central Florida students working at Amazon can now qualify to have tuition and fees paid as part of a new program.

Amazon’s Career Choice program is a partnership between Amazon and UCF, which provides Amazon employees with assistance to earn an education and learn new skills.

The program is available to both full and part-time hourly employees who have worked at the company for at least 90 days who want to pursue certificates or bachelor’s degrees.

Amazon says students who are approved through the program will qualify to have applicable tuition and fees prepaid.

Theodorea Regina Berry, vice provost of Student Learning and Academic Success at UCF, said the program is part of UCF’s commitment to preparing students for the future.

“Tuition assistance programs like these are crucial in positioning students to succeed academically and professionally,” Berry said.

UCF estimates it has more than 600 alumni working at Amazon locations across the country in a variety of management, marketing and information technology roles.

Established in 2012, Amazon’s Career Choice program is part of a $1.2 billion investment by Amazon to help employees move into higher-paying, in-demand jobs.

The company says more than 50,000 employees globally have participated in the program.
