Trouble paying your electric bill? Program offers help to OUC customers

ORLANDO, Fla. — With the pandemic upon us and many Central Florida residents facing financial hardship, finding money to pay the bills can be a real challenge.

The Orlando Utilities Commission says it may be able to help.

The utility provider reminds energy and water customers that they can apply for Project CARE, a program administered by the Heart of Florida United Way.

OUC says its Board of Commissioners approved a $12.1 million customer relief package earlier this year that included $2.6 million for Project CARE -- the utility’s bill payment assistance fund supported by OUC, its employees and customers.

OUC says there is still almost $1.5 million available in the program to help customers in need.
