FHP: Woman, 26, dies after crash near Lake Nona

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. — An Orlando woman died following a late-night crash in south Orange County, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

Troopers responded to Boggy Creek Road near J Lawson Boulevard around 11 p.m. Thursday.

At the scene, they found that an SUV had collided with a semi-truck.

Investigators said they believe the Mazda CX-30 was traveling southbound on Boggy Creek Road behind the semi.

The driver of the semi began to slow down for a red traffic signal, but the SUV’s driver did not and crashed into the back of the truck, according to FHP.

Troopers said the Mazda’s driver, 26, of Orlando, was transported to UCF Lake Nona Hospital but did not survive.

The semi’s driver suffered minor injuries, FHP said.

Investigators closed the southbound lanes of Boggy Creek Road for several hours to collect evidence.

Channel 9 was at the crash site Friday morning and watched as troopers reopened the roadway shortly after 5 a.m.
