Troopers: 1 killed in 4-vehicle crash near Leesburg

LAKE COUNTY, Fla. — One person died in a crash involving several motorists near Leesburg in Lake County.

Troopers responded to County Road 44 and North Silver Lake Road around 7:15 a.m. Monday.

At the scene, they determined that four vehicles — including a tractor-trailer — were involved.

Other makes and models included a Chevy Silverado, Toyota Corolla and a Mitsubishi Mirage, according to Florida Highway Patrol.

FHP did not release details about what might have led to the crash, but said the driver of the Corolla — a 42-year-old man from Eustis — died at the crash site.

Troopers said the woman driving the Mitsubishi, 23, of DeLand, suffered minor injuries and was taken to a hospital.

Other drivers were unhurt, investigators said.

As of 10:15 a.m. Monday, FHP reported roadblocks in both the eastbound and westbound lanes of County Road 44.

Investigators said the cause of the crash remains under investigation.
