Trio of teens caught breaking into vehicles, Cocoa Beach police say

COCOA BEACH, Fla. — Three teenagers were arrested Saturday morning by Cocoa Beach police, who said they caught the them breaking into vehicles.

Officers were called to Discovery Beach Resort at 300 Barlow Ave. in Cocoa Beach around 4:15 a.m. regarding reports of a suspicious person in the parking lot, police said.

Officers said a 17-year-old driver and his passenger, Steven Baker, 18, were inside a white 2011 Chevy Impala with the engine running. At the same time, an officer said they heard a glass window break and saw Richard Walsh, 18, inside a black Dodge pickup. When police tried to question him, he ran away but was later caught and arrested, police said.

When the officer was chasing Walsh, the juvenile and Baker jumped out of the Impala and ran away; both were later apprehended, police said.

Police said the Impala had been stolen from another city and at least two other vehicles were burglarized at Discovery Beach Resort.

All three teens have been charged with several counts of burglary and theft.

Walsh and the juvenile were additionally charged with resisting arrest without violence.
