Tourist struck by lightning at popular beach pier in Florida

PANAMA CITY BEACH, Fla. — A tourist in Florida is in critical condition after severe weather in Panama City Beach.

Officers said a 33-year-old man was struck by lightning at a popular pier.

The weather caused the pier to close.

Officers said the tourist was receiving CPR from a bystander when they arrived.

One witness said the situation was bad.

“Lightning struck the first time behind them and missed they hunkered down and then within 5 or 10 seconds the second one hit and it actually struck one of the men and it was a pretty bad situation,” said witness Ethan Bryan.

The victim was taken to a hospital, where he remains in critical condition.
