COCOA, Fla. — Two small children were among a family of four rescued from an overturned boat in the Indian River Friday evening.
Cocoa police officers were called to the Indian River near the Hubert Humphrey Bridge around 10:30 p.m. after multiple 911 callers reported a boat crash with several people in the water.
With help from a civilian bystander in a separate boat, four Cocoa officers entered the water and quickly pulled two adults and an infant to safety.

The Florida Wildlife Commission, U.S. Coast Guard and Brevard County Sheriff’s Office also responded and assisted in the search for a 23-month old girl who had not been found.
After nearly an hour of searching, Cocoa police officers Matt Rush and Corporal Alan Worthy found the girl trapped underneath the boat in a pocket of air and pulled her from the water.
The toddler had been kept afloat by a life jacket, according to police.
The young girl and her family were all checked by paramedics and are in good condition.
FWC is leading the investigation into what caused the boat to crash and overturn.
