ORLANDO, Fla. — As Tropical Storm Elsa nears the west coast of Florida, Central Florida school districts and universities are monitoring the storm and deciding whether to close their doors on Wednesday.
So far, these local counties and schools have announced that their programs will be canceled in preparation of the storm:

Marion County
Marion County Public Schools officials announced that summer school classes will be canceled on Wednesday due to Elsa.
“MCPS employees should telework if possible; otherwise, make-up day will be offered w/forthcoming details,” the district tweeted on Tuesday.

Sumter County
Officials said Sumter District Schools and Summer Food Service Programs will be closed on Wednesday due to Elsa.

Lake County
Lake County Schools will be closed on Wednesday.
“Forecasts call for high winds, heavy rains and possible tornadoes in Lake tomorrow morning, so we are advising students and staff to stay home and stay safe,” the district tweeted on Tuesday.
The district said it expects to reopen on Thursday.

University of Florida
The University of Florida will cancel classes and cease all non-essential campus operations Wednesday. During this time, all special events have also been canceled. UF will resume normal operations Thursday.
