TAVARES, Fla. — Since the state has decided that school won’t reopen this school year, that means high school is over for the class of 2020.
“We didn’t get prom, we didn’t get our last senior week, we didn’t get anything, and it sucks,” said an emotional Shea Dwyer, a senior at Tavares High School. “I’m basically getting pushed out. I’m not even getting to leave like how I should be able to leave.”
However, the Lake County School District decided to celebrate students at Tavares High School on Monday.
Teachers and administrators waved, cheered and held up signs as students were given their caps and gowns, and signs to put in their yards.

“I formed such great relationships with my teachers and administrators, and I was just so involved all four years, so it’s just hard to go,” Dwyer said.
Other schools within Lake County said they’re planning similar celebrations.
