WINTER SPRINGS, Fla. — Winter Springs police have reopened part of State Road 419 as well as two other roads Saturday after destroying a suspicious package.

Police closed the roads at State Road 419 and Edgemon Road, as well as parts of Shepard Road, to investigate a long ammo box left near the intersection.

While a bomb squad was brought in, some residents were blocked from getting to their homes.

"I'm glad they're taking all the time they need to, to protect us, because it might take a long time and we might get frustrated but it's better than us being dead so they gotta take those precautions for our safety," said Garrett Mosie, a neighbor.

Police blew up the package, and the explosion could be heard in the nearby neighborhood.

Police assure residents that "everything is fine" and that they were the cause of the explosion.

The Seminole County Sheriff's Office helicopter was also in the area.
