ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. — On Wednesday, Orlando police officers spotted a silver car driving south on Rio Grande Avenue that matched the description of a vehicle involved in a hit-and-run accident with injuries earlier in the day.

Officers turned on their emergency lights just after 2 p.m. and tried to pull the driver over.

The car, allegedly driven by Clarence McClendon, 27, continued through an intersection and sped up, an Orlando Police Department arrest report said.

Officers said they pulled into the center lane and stopped, turned off their emergency equipment and did not continue chasing the car.

One officer saw McClendon lose control of his car and crash into a house at the corner of 19th Street and Rio Grande Avenue, the report said.

Four people were inside the house at the time. None of them were injured.

McClendon was treated for minor injuries at the scene but did not want to be taken to the hospital.

He was charged with fleeing/attempting to elude a law enforcement officer.

McClendon was arrested for the same crime in 2012.

He was being held at the Orange County Jail in lieu of a $7,500 bond.
