DAYTONA BEACH SHORES, Fla. — The man accused of punching a 75-year-old man outside of a Daytona Beach Publix was arrested Wednesday.
Police brought Peter Capozzi, 59, into custody Wednesday evening.
Officers said the 75-year-old man, who had recently had heart surgery, asked Capozzi's girlfriend to back up in the checkout line.
After the older man had left the store, officers said Capozzi confronted him in the parking lot and punched the 75 year old in the chest and knocked him to the ground.
Police said Capozzi denied punching the man but said he did confront him because he said the man yelled at his girlfriend.
Officers said the victim had a bruise on his chest and Capozzi's story did not add up.
Capozzi is facing a charge of battery on a person age 65 or older.
