Suspect accused of doing U-turn to hit motorcyclist, good Samaritan faces another competency hearing

SANFORD, Fla. — It’s been almost a year since a good Samaritan was hit and killed while trying to help a motorcyclist who had also been hit by a car.

The suspect was initially found to be incompetent to stand trial. But recently, his status has changed, giving hope to the victim’s family that her suspected killer will pay for his crime.

The tragedy happened on State Road 46 near the Orlando Sanford International Airport.

Investigators said after suspect Michael Kraft hit the motorcyclist, several people witnessed his car do a U-turn and come back and hit Jenica Campbell, who was trying to help the motorcyclist lying on the side of the road.

The family of Campbell said her loss is still felt today.
