ORLANDO, Fla. — Though there’s been a surge in COVID-19 cases, hospitalizations have only seen a slight uptick, but officials said it’s not a cause for concern.

See our in-depth coverage below:

“We are seeing increase in numbers not in any way, shape or form anything that is stressing our system right now,” said Dr. George Ralls, senior vice president at Orlando Health.

“Coronavirus

There are about 50 COVID-19 patients at Orlando Health hospitals right now, but not a single patient is on a ventilator, Ralls said.

“Overall, the numbers are very, very small,” he said. “Our full capacity is close to 3,000 beds across our system.”

Some staff members have gotten sick, but it has to do with outside of work, Ralls said.

“There has not been a single case in our system where a patient or a provider has contracted something that was related to a breach in our infection prevention protocol,” Ralls said.
