EDGEWOOD, Fla. — A man in his 50s was fatally struck Wednesday afternoon by a SunRail train, the Edgewood Police Department said.
Police said the crash was reported shortly after 2:30 p.m. at Stratemeyer Drive near East Mary Jess Road and South Orange Avenue.
The Orange County Sheriff's Office said the man was pronounced dead at the crash scene. His identity hasn't been disclosed.
"The train was southbound as the subject was also walking southbound on the tracks," Sheriff's Office spokeswoman Jane Watrel said. "The train engineer sounded his horn several times to alert the victim; however, the victim did not heed the warning and refused to get off the tracks."
The Florida Department of Transportation said two SunRail train routes were canceled and nine other train routes were delayed.
The 110 people aboard the train were uninjured, the agency said.
No other details were given.
The crash remains under investigation.
