THE VILLAGES, Fla. — Beginning Thursday, a drive-thru COVID-19 vaccine site will open and distribute 4,000 doses on a regular basis, Gov. Ron DeSantis announced Monday.
DeSantis said the site will become a permanent site and appointments will be available Wednesday.
The governor made the announcement at The Center for Advanced Healthcare at Brownwood.
This week, DeSantis said 307,000 first doses of the COVID-19 vaccine will be delivered to Florida.

So far, 1.25 million seniors have received their first shot, according to the governor.

DeSantis also announced 23 additional places of worship will begin to distribute the vaccine. He did not say where they will be located.
On Sunday, the Florida Department of Health reported that nearly 2 million COVID-19 vaccines have been administered in the state.

Records show 1,993,472 COVID-19 vaccine shots have been administered since they became available in the state.
