ORLANDO, Fla. — Update 2:

The wave off Africa now has a 40% chance of development and likely recurving offshore, Channel 9 certified chief meteorologist Tom Terry said.

Strong Bermuda-Azores High should let the system re-curve well off our east coast, Terry said.

Update:

A piece of tropical energy is moving over the Bahamas and will increase rain across South Florida.

Central Florida will also have higher rain coverage through Saturday.

Chief meteorologist Tom Terry said Wednesday that he does not expect the system to develop, but it will enhance rain chances.

In the eastern Atlantic, there is a tropical wave moving several hundred miles southwest of the Cape Verde islands.

That system is expected to develop later this week as it moves over the tropical Atlantic.

There is 30% chance it will form within the next week.

Early indications would have it curve out to sea, but Terry will continue monitoring it nonetheless.
