TRON Lightcycle / Run, a family-friendly thrill ride opening near Space Mountain in Tomorrowland at Magic Kingdom, will officially launch on April 4, Walt Disney World announced Tuesday.

The ride, inspired by the 1982 landmark film “TRON” and its 2010 sequel “TRON: Legacy,” will be the fastest roller coaster at any Disney theme park in the world, Disney said.

The ride’s story picks up after “TRON: Legacy.” Guests will enter a second gateway into a digital realm called The Grid opened by “TRON” character Sam Flynn. When guests enter the queue, they will feel as if they are digitized and transported to the Grid for a special Lightcycle race.

Once riders board their lightcycles, they’ll go on a thrilling race against the Grid’s menacing “Programs.”

The attraction will be similar to the original TRON Lightycycle Power Run, which opened in Shanghai Disneyland in 2016.

Disney teased Tuesday that cast members, annual passholders and Disney Vacation Club members will get to experience the attraction before it officially opens, but no official date has been announced.
