ORLANDO, Fla. — Former Spirit Airlines employees have a chance to explore new aviation careers in Orlando this week.
American Airlines is scheduled to meet with former Spirit pilots and maintenance crew members from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Wednesday at the Signia by Hilton Orlando Bonnet Creek, located on Bonnet Creek Resort Lane.
The recruiting opportunity comes about four months after Spirit Airlines ceased operations on May 2, ending the airline’s 33-year run and leaving thousands of workers across the country seeking new employment.
Starting Thursday, the Latino Professionals in Aerospace Expo will also be held at the Signia by Hilton Orlando Bonnet Creek.
The two-day hiring event is open to workers affected by Spirit’s shutdown and is expected to connect job seekers with employers in aerospace and aviation.
The events come as airlines and aerospace companies look to fill positions across a range of fields, including flight operations, aircraft maintenance and other technical roles.
