SpaceX on track for weekend Crew-3 launch following successful static fire test

CAPE CANAVERAL, Fla. — SpaceX announced they are one step closer to this weekend’s Crew-3 launch following a successful static fire test Thursday.

The launch is scheduled to blast off from Kennedy Space Center’s Launch Complex 39A Sunday morning at 2:21 a.m.

NASA astronauts Raja Chari, Tom Marshburn and Kayla Barron, and European Space Agency astronaut Matthias Maurer make up the third crew rotation mission to the International Space Station as part of NASA’s Commercial Crew program.

This will be the fifth human spaceflight aboard the Dragon capsule.

On Monday, the Flight Readiness Review for the mission concluded, and teams will proceed for the planned Halloween launch.

Launch viewing packages at the Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex are sold out.

If the launch goes as scheduled, the crew will arrive at the space station just after midnight Monday, Nov. 1.
