Sources: Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis expected to announce 2024 presidential campaign next week

ORLANDO, Fla. — Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis is expected to formally announce his candidacy for president online Wednesday -- one day before a donor meeting in Miami -- possibly with a video announcement posted to Twitter, sources told ABC News.

The sources said that DeSantis’ team is planning an official kickoff event for his 2024 presidential campaign in his hometown of Dunedin, not far from Tampa, tentatively planned for the week of Memorial Day.

One of the venues being looked at is a little league baseball field in Dunedin, but multiple settings are under consideration, the sources said.

By formally entering the presidential race, DeSantis would be allowed to begin soliciting donations.
