ORLANDO, Fla. — Thousands of people will fill the streets of downtown Orlando for one of the biggest races of the year.

The Simply IOA Corporate 5K is happening in the middle of the evening commute, so if you work anywhere near downtown, you’re sure to notice the crowd.
The race starts at 6:15 p.m. Thursday.

Track Shack on North Mills Avenue is the organizer.
It started the event in 1995.
Every year, the event shuts down 5 kilometers of roads around Orlando’s Lake Eola and surrounding neighborhoods.
This year, the run will impact Central Boulevard, down to Bumby, up to Robinson Street and back over to Rosalind Avenue.

The run is for Florida’s corporate community, nonprofits and businesses.
Roads will close much earlier due to the race, so keep that in mind if you have business in the area this evening.

At last check, more than 7,000 people registered for today’s event. Last year’s event had more than 3,000. In 2020, the race went virtual.
