Man, 2 juveniles in custody after shooting in heart of downtown Orlando

ORLANDO, Fla. — A 24-year-old man was critically injured in a shooting in the heart of downtown Orlando early Monday morning.

Police said the man was shot at the intersection of East Church Street and Liberty Avenue just after 4:30 a.m.

The man was taken to a hospital, where he was brought into surgery. He is in critical but stable condition.

Orlando police said three suspects are in custody and that two of them are juveniles. They were detained by downtown bike officers.

All three male suspects are being interviewed by investigators, police said. Officers said they are confident that they have everyone involved in the shooting in custody and that they found two guns in the area.

Downtown residents Channel 9 spoke with were shocked to hear the news.

“It’s so scary,” one resident said. “This is a very decent area.”

Channel 9′s Q McCray spoke with another resident who lives downtown.

“There’s too much violence -- too much violence,” Bryon Jones said.
